McCurry Helps Pilots Draw Even In Mayor's Cup Series
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Oklahoma State's Brendan McCurry hit a solo home run and picked up the save in relief as the Anchorage Glacier Pilots tied the Mayor's Cup series against the Anchorage Bucs with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday.  The tie-breaker in the annual series for city bragging rights between the city's two ABL teams concludes on Thursday night.

Sean Buckle collected the win for the Pilots, allowing just one hit over six innings of work.  McCurry was the only player on either side to manage more than one hit.

Across the Alaska Baseball League, the Goldpanners and Oilers split a doubleheader by identical 2-1 scores.  In the nightcap, Peninsula's Mike Weiland delivered the walk-off hit for the second straight night.

The loss by the Panners drops them out of first place.  Mat-Su took over the ABL lead with an 8-1 romp over last place Chugiak-Eagle River.  Tennessee's A.J. Simcox clubbed a grand slam and drove in five runs for the Miners, who improve to 19 and 11 in league play.  The Goldpanners are 17 and 10, a half game back.
