Chris Klint

A lifelong Alaskan, Web editor Chris Klint has had journalism in his blood as long as he can remember.

Although he’s always been a writer, he specifically inherited his interest in the craft from his grandfather, veteran Providence Journal reporter Robert Frederiksen. Chris grew up in Juneau, acquiring some Southeast perspective and studying Russian in high school, before returning to Anchorage for college.

During his time at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Chris reported several business and profile stories for the campus paper, The Northern Light. In the semester before his cum laude graduation with a degree in print journalism, he served as editor-in-chief of the spring 2005 issue of the Journalism and Public Communications Department’s free magazine, True North.

Hired at Channel 2 in September 2009, Chris has worked in every shift the Web Department has to offer. In more than three years at the station, he has written over 1,500 stories ranging from crimes to features, and frequently coordinates with reporters to post and update breaking news. When he gets to escape the building he also writes Lunchbox, an occasional series reviewing midday fare at Anchorage restaurants.

Chris maintains an interest in public policy and military history, as well as a modest collection of books in those fields. Every now and then he’ll also pick up and put together a ridiculously large LEGO set, scratching his itch to build things without resorting to power tools. An avid fan of science fiction and video games, he is attracted to worlds which offer the same kind of immersion as life itself.
