ANCHORAGE -

Aliy Zirkle left the village of Shaktoolik early this morning at 3:51 am, putting an hour between herself and Jeff King, with his 12 dog team.

Martin Buser was overtaken by King late last night, whose run out of Unalakleet allowed him to put almost an hour between them.

Seven mushers in total were out of Shaktoolik and headed on toward Koyuk, the next checkpoint 50 miles away.

Sonny Lindner followed closely behind Buser this morning as they hit the trail. Aaron Burmeister and Dallas Seavey were only a minute apart when departing, followed by Seavey's father, Mitch Seavey, just before 11 am.

As of 12:05 pm, Robert Sorlie and Joar Ulsom were listed in Shaktoolik, both having come in closely around 10:30 am.
