$19.7 billion --The total Valentine's Day spending projected for 2016, setting a new record high for the National Retail Federation's annual survey.
$146.84 -- The per person average estimated amount that people will spend on Valentine's Day in 2016. That's up from $142.31 last year.
90.8% -- The percentage of Valentine's Day celebrants who plan to buy a gift for their significant other.
$4.45 billion-- The amount people will spend on necklaces, earrings and other jewelry items.
58.2%-- The percentage of men who buy flowers for Valentine's Day.
15.8%-- The percentage of women who buy flowers for Valentine's Day.
$1.99 billion-- The amount people plan to spend on flowers for Valentine's Day in 2016.
250 million-- The estimated number of roses grown for Valentine's Day in 2016, according to aboutflowers.com.
$4.5 billion -- The collective amount expected to be spent by the 38.3 percent of couples planning a night out.
$26.24-- The average amount that will be spent by the one in five people who said they plan to buy their pets gifts this Valentine's Day. Total spending on pets for the holiday is expected to reach $681 million.
17.3%-- The percentage of people who will said they will use their Smartphone to purchase Valentine's Day gifts.
$1.76 billion-- The amount people will spend on candy.
$1.15 billion-- The amount that will be spent on Valentine's Day greeting cards.
24% -- The percentage of those surveyed who said they plan to give a gift of experience such as tickets to a concert, a spa service or an art lesson.
45.2% -- The percentage of adults who do not plan to celebrate Valentine's Day in 2016.
9 million-- The number of people who expect or are planning a marriage proposal on Valentine's Day, according to the latest American Express Spending & Saving Tracker.
85%-- The percentage of men and women who say sex is an important part of Valentine's Day, according to a survey conducted by the experts at online sex guide Good In Bed.
