A woman gave birth outdoors and in a sled on her way to the hospital.

Shirley Bonanni of Roxborough, Pa. found herself having contractions shortly after the biggest snow storm of the season slammed the East Coast earlier this week. Thinking she had plenty of time, she showered and prepared herself to head to the hospital. Shirley's husband Fabian got the family car as far up the slippery street as he could, but Shirley was unable to make the icy trek to the vehicle. Fabian put his "plan B" into action and starting pulling her in a sled to the vehicle, reports Philadelphia's WPVI.

But the baby could not wait. Shirley's father-in-law, who had just arrived at the family's home, called 911 and the dispatcher gave instructions on how to deliver the baby right there in the sled. With some coaching, Fabian delivered Bella Sophia Bonanni on the street outside their home.

Shirley and Bella are recovering in the hospital and are both in good health.
