An Anchorage man was stabbed multiple times by his roommate while he slept in his bed Tuesday morning, according to Anchorage Police.
Just after 4 a.m. police were dispatched to a residence on the 2400 block of Fairbanks Street following a call from a female neighbor reporting the stabbing.
Police responding to the scene of the crime determined the victim’s roommate, Demetrius Johnson, 26, had stabbed the victim multiple times while he slept. APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro explained the victim received multiple “severe stab wounds to the upper body and face.” She noted though the wounds were severe, they were not life-threatening.
The victim was able to escape from the home, Castro said, and make his way to a neighbor’s home where the report was made to police.
Upon arrival police were invited into the home where the crime occurred by Johnson, Castro said.
“He was cooperative with police,” she said.
Castro explained police were unable to determine any clear motive for the attack. She emphasized investigators could not determine any specific instance that motivated Johnson to attack his roommate.
Johnson was arrested and charged with assault in the first degree.
