ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Alaska State Troopers say a 27-year-old Anchorage woman is under arrest after a pickup truck she was driving nearly struck a trooper head-on.

Autumn Alexandra Ray is charged with numerous counts including assault on a police officer, driving under the influence, and reckless endangerment.

Troopers say a 1998 Toyota pickup drove from a ditch onto an oncoming lane in south Anchorage Saturday, nearly striking the trooper, Howie Peterson.

According to AST spokesperson Megan Peters, Peterson took evasive action and drove into the ditch, but was able to pull out and catch up with Ray on Huffman Road to arrest her.

"While attempting to stop the vehicle, at one point the passenger door flung open and a 35-year-old Anchorage female passenger jumped from the moving vehicle at approximately 40 mph, and was not injured," troopers wrote.

Peters didn't have any information Tuesday on why the woman, who wasn't charged with a crime, jumped from the truck.

Attorney Kevin Boots, who is representing Ray, declined to comment on the case Tuesday.
