Police arrested a man suspected of a Tuesday morning stabbing at a local restaurant near Merrill Field.

According to a statement from APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro, police were informed of the incident at Peggy’s Restaurant, at 1675 E. 5th Ave., just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

“When police responded they discovered a male who had been stabbed and police took the suspect into custody,” Castro wrote. “The victim was checked by medics and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.”

Castro said a suspect in the stabbing, 59-year-old Olin Anderson, has been arrested on a charge of first-degree assault and is held without bail.

He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday.

The victim of the stabbing has not been identified by APD.

"We're still collecting our informational statements from witnesses," Castro said.

According to initial reports on the stabbing, which Castro would not confirm Tuesday, Anderson was allegedly armed with a knife in the restaurant’s Arctic entry, threatening customers and also threatening to commit suicide.
