ANCHORAGE -

Fairbanks police are seeking information from the public in helping to solve a murder 20 years after it occurred.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says police are spotlighting the unsolved murder at the request of the family of David "Barry" McNulty.

The father of five was killed the night of May 30, 1994, at Garden Island Party Store, where he worked as a clerk.

Police quickly responded to a panic alarm that was sounded late that night at the store, and found McNulty dead from a gunshot wound.

The motive appeared to be a robbery at the Illinois Street store.

Fairbanks police detective Scott Adams says McNulty was an unlikely victim, a man who worked two jobs to support his family.

Police have pursued existing leads without solving the case.
