JUNEAU, Alaska -

Bills that would axe recommended salary increases for top state officials, institute crisis training programs for schools and limit use of materials gathered by drones are among the first wave of bills filed ahead of the upcoming legislative session.

Two House bills, one from Democrats and the other from members of the Republican-led majority, have been filed to not approve pay raises as recommended by the State Officers Compensation Commission.

Republican Rep. Charisse Millett proposed having the department of education approve crisis training programs for schools and allowing for school employees to administer prescribed psychiatric medication to students.

A bill from Republican Rep. Pete Higgins would allow for evidence obtained using a drone to be admissible in a criminal case only if it was authorized by a search warrant.
