ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

While most celebrated Christmas Wednesday, on Thursday Anchorage malls continued their extended hours for shoppers looking for day-after deals.

Dimond Center Mall staff says people were lined up outside before the mall’s 10 a.m. opening time. Crowds were also bigger this year than they were in 2012.

Marc Hess, the manager of locally owned Bosco's, says he expected a post-holiday rush, but not as big as before Christmas. "But it should be pretty good," he says.

Many customers were in the store using gift certificates they got for Christmas.

Dimond Center Mall will continue holiday hours of 10 a.m to 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday. It will close early on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Northway Mall typically stays open until 9 p.m. on weekdays.

The 5th Avenue Mall returns to normal hours Friday and throughout the weekend. The downtown mall will close early on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day.
