Army Night Training Exercise Moves to Anchorage

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson says Anchorage residents may experience loud noises and traffic disruptions on base, during a readiness exercise being held next week.

In a Wednesday statement, JBER spokesperson Staff Sgt. Zachary Wolf says the event will be held Monday through Thursday, from Nov. 4 through Nov. 7.

“Personnel on base or those living in close proximity to JBER may notice an increase in sirens, security measures, simulated explosions, loud speaker announcements and other emergency response activity during this time,” Wolf wrote.

According to Wolf, base officials running the exercise say the uptick in sound levels will occur between 6 a.m. and midnight, but didn’t disclose when sounds would be loudest during exercise hours.

“They said during this time period, we can expect noise,” Wolf said.

While base personnel may experience traffic delays, efforts will be made to minimize any problems people encounter.
