Juneau Police Investigate Grocery Store Theft
Juneau police say two men posing as employees of a downtown grocery store stole an estimated $3,000 from the store's cash registers.
Police spokesman Lt. David Campbell tells the Juneau Empire the men tricked a cleaning clew into letting them into Foodland IGA early Monday, saying they were there to stock shelves.
He says members of the cleaning crew went looking for the men when they noticed the shelves weren't being stocked. He says the men were gone, along with money from cash registers at the front of the store. He says the registers were forcibly opened.
Campbell says authorities don't have an exact count of what was taken but says the store manager who responded to the scene with police believed the amount was $3,000.
The investigation continues.
