ANCHORAGE -

A father and son’s late night ride on an ATV ended in tragedy, according to troopers.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Friday, troopers responded to a report of an ATV collision on Red Ribbon Road in Kasilof. First responders found Benjamin Kruse, 30, dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed Kruse and his three-year-old son were riding the ATV along the roadway when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and rolled over. Neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, but troopers say the young boy was unharmed.

The investigation is ongoing, but troopers say alcohol is believed to be a factor. Peninsula Memorial Chapel took possession of Kruse’s body, and awaits the State Medical Examiner.
