Late-Night Wasilla Crash Injures 2, Slows Parks Highway Traffic
Alaska State Troopers say a crash on the Parks Highway near Wasilla seriously injured two women late Tuesday night.
Witnesses say troopers initially responded to the collision, on the Parks near its intersection with Church Road, at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.
AST spokesperson Beth Ipsen was still gathering information on the crash Wednesday morning, but confirms initial reports of injuries in the collision.
“There were two people with reported serious injuries,” Ipsen said. “One of them was entrapped.”
According to Ipsen, the collision involved a 1991 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by 17-year-old Emma Lark of Big Lake, as well as a 2001 Ford Focus sedan driven by 26-year-old Lena Hensley of Anchorage. Ipsen didn’t immediately have further details on the events of the crash.
Troopers briefly closed the highway as they investigated the wreck.
“The road was closed because the southbound lanes were blocked,” Ipsen said.
