Looking for a Christmas Tree? DIY at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

Are you looking for a Christmas tree? ‘Tis the season to head to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge if you want to do it yourself.

People can cut down a tree for free beginning on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 until Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 at the Kenai refuge.

There are some simple guidelines you’ll need to follow:

  • Must use hand tools.
  • Trim stumps as close to the ground as possible.
  • One tree per household.
  • No trees within 150 feet road, lake, stream, trail, campground, or picnic area.
  • Also, no tree cutting refuge headquarters/visitor center area and along ski hill road.
