ANCHORAGE -

23-year-old Cesar Meza, Jr., is in "critically stable" condition in a local hospital after a weekend rollover crash on the Glenn Highway.

Meza was the driver of a white Saturn sports utility vehicle that apparently lost control and flipped near the North Birchwood Loop Road exit around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

Police said he was still lying in the road when police arrived; he was hospitalized in critical condition, and a female passenger was transported to a local hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The crash closed the outbound lanes of the highway until 4:30 a.m. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
