Anchorage police say a melee during Saturday morning’s bar closing time has left a 38-year-old man in critical condition and his wife was also treated for injuries.
Around 3:15 a.m. or what’s known as “bar-break,” police received multiple 911 calls for a fight in a parking lot outside the Gaslight Lounge.
“The assault occurred in the parking lot behind the Gaslight Lounge amidst several other disturbances following bar closing,” said Dani Myren, Public Information Officer with the Anchorage Police Department. “The suspects had fled the scene prior to APD’s arrival.”
When police arrived on scene, officers found an unconscious man suffering from serious injuries to his head and body. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and police say he remains in critical condition as of late Saturday morning.
His wife was taken to the hospital and underwent treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Police did not initially release the cause and circumstances of the fight, but called the Crime Scene Team to the scene, along with detectives to review any available video surveillance from the surrounding businesses and to interview witnesses.
If you have any information on the case, then police are asking you call 786-8900 or to remain anonymous, then call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
