One Person Injured in Glenn Highway SUV Rollover

Anchorage police say a sport-utility vehicle rolled over on the Glenn Highway outbound Wednesday afternoon, with one entrapped person freed and taken to a local hospital.
APD spokesperson Dani Myren says the single-vehicle crash, first reported shortly after 4:45 p.m. outbound shortly before Eklutna, saw the SUV end up in the median. It wasn’t immediately clear whether there were other people in the vehicle besides the one who was entrapped.
A photo taken by Channel 2 viewer Alex Smith shows a Chugiak Volunteer Fire Department ambulance and several medics examining the SUV, on its driver’s side with the front passenger-side door open.
“It looks like they were able to get the victim out and transport him to the hospital,” Myren said.
Myren says there are no indications of any lane closures taking place on the Glenn during APD’s response to the crash. Channel 2 Facebook users, however, reported bumper-to-bumper traffic outbound on the Glenn as late as 5:45 p.m.
With more than 100 accidents reported in town Wednesday, Myren asks drivers to use caution on local roads Wednesday night.
“There are a lot of other accidents floating around out there,” Myren said.
