Public Defender Appointed as Bethel Judge
An assistant public defender has been appointed to the District Court bench in Bethel.
The governor's office says Nathaniel Peters will be Bethel's newest District Court judge.
Peters worked as a Superior Court clerk and deputy magistrate in Palmer before taking a job with the public defender's office in Palmer from 2003 to 2006.
He quit to work in civil law in Ireland and returned to Alaska in 2008 to work as a public defender in Palmer.
The governor's office says he earned a bachelor's degree from Truman State University and law degree from Ohio Northern University.
