Recall Lindsay Holmes Group to Submit Application
Supporters of an effort to recall state Rep. Lindsey Holmes plan to submit their recall application to state election officials Wednesday.
Holmes won re-election in 2012 as a Democrat but announced before the start of the last legislative session that she was changing her party affiliation to Republican, prompting some criticism.
If the recall application is approved, supporters say about 2,000 signatures would have to be gathered from registered voters in Holmes' Anchorage district before a special election could be set.
Organizer Wigi Tozzi didn't know how long that would take.
Tozzi said the effort isn't just about Holmes, but about the electoral process and sending a message to candidates who might run on one party ticket and then switch.
Holmes has announced plans to seek re-election next year.
