Remains of Missing Wasilla Woman Possibly Found in Indian
Alaska State Troopers say the remains of a Wasilla woman missing since 2010 have been found in Indian.
Troopers say a hiker reported finding a human skull while hiking around a wooded area off of Boretide Road in Indian on Sunday morning just before 11 a.m.
Responding investigators conducted a search of the area and also uncovered women's clothing.
Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of Investigations Special Crimes Investigation Unit responded to the scene, along with an investigator from the State Medical Examiner's Office.
Troopers say the remains appear to be those of Wasilla's Nichole M. Millsaps, who was 26 at the time of her disappearance in May 2010.
The medical examiner's office took possession of the remains and is awaiting a positive identification. Millsap's family has been informed of the discovery.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
