ANCHORAGE -

A Sterling man has been arrested on DUI and assault charges, after Alaska State Troopers say he drove under the influence of drugs and placed drivers near the town in peril Wednesday morning.

According to an AST dispatch Wednesday night, shortly before 9:30 a.m. dispatchers received multiple Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately 911 calls from Sterling regarding a vehicle headed north.

Troopers subsequently stopped the driver -- 27-year-old Teddy Wise -- near Mile 73 of the Sterling Highway.

“Investigation showed Wise had almost caused several crashes and run multiple vehicles off the road and was impaired,” troopers wrote.

Wise was arrested on one drug-based DUI count, as well as four counts of third-degree assault. He was remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
