Sterling Highway Rollover Crash Under Investigation
Alaska State Troopers are investigating a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Sterling Highway Tuesday night that saw a Sterling man taken to a Soldotna hospital.
According to a Thursday AST dispatch, troopers were informed at about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday of the crash near Mile 54 of the highway, in the vicinity of Cooper Landing.
“Investigation revealed Devin W. Becker age 28 of Sterling was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed and lost control of the SUV he was operating,” troopers wrote. “Due to injuries sustained from the collision, Becker was transported to (Central Peninsula Hospital) for treatment.”
In an email to Channel 2, AST spokesperson Megan Peters says Becker’s injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening. According to hospital officials, Becker was treated and released.
“It was reported to be an entrapment initially,” Peters wrote. “When first responders arrived (there was) no entrapment.”
Peters says the cause of the crash, as well as whether drugs or alcohol were involved, remains under investigation.
