Alaska State Troopers say one lane of the Alaska Highway has reopened, after a tractor-trailer fire with no injuries Tuesday morning between Tok and Northway.
According to AST spokesperson Megan Peters, troopers were among the agencies which responded to the fire at Mile 1,253 of the highway. The Associated Press initially reported that emergency crews were headed to the fire at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
"It sounds like the truck was carrying hay, and somehow that caught fire," Peters said.
Firefighters with the Alaska Division of Forestry also responded to extinguish the fire, which temporarily closed the highway.
Peters says troopers are still at the scene as of 10:15 a.m. and conducting traffic control.
