ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

A Wasilla woman was arrested on charges including DUI early Sunday, after Alaska State Troopers say she tried to elude them by driving into her garage.

According to a Sunday AST dispatch, troopers with the Southcentral Bureau of Highway Patrol were following 36-year-old driver Natasha R. Bowers when they tried to conduct a traffic stop on her just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday. They followed her to a home on Carlsbad Place.

“The vehicle pulled into a garage and (the driver) attempted to close the door,” troopers wrote. “Troopers were able to enter the garage where they contacted (Bowers).”

After troopers determined that Bowers had been driving drunk, she allegedly made another attempt to get away.

“Upon arrest Bowers fought to escape detention, but was eventually taken into custody,” troopers wrote. “Bowers subsequently refused to provide a breath sample for testing.”

Bowers was arrested and held at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $2,000 bail, on charges of DUI, second-degree failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer, refusal to submit to a chemical test and resisting arrest.
