Despite being out-shot 29-28, the Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 5-3 to complete the 3 game series sweep Saturday evening at the Sullivan Arena.
Utah's Kris Hogg struck first, giving the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead just under 5 minutes into the first. Alaska would register two back to back power play goals from Tommy Mele and Shawn Skelly to give the Aces a 2-1 lead to end the first period of play.
Into the second, Teigan Zahn tallied the short-handed equalizer, but Alaska's Jordan Kremyr fired back shortly after to put the Aces up 3-2. Later in the frame, defenseman Brad Gorham buried his first professional goal, and the eventual game winner, for the Alaska 4-2 lead.
Utah made it close in the 3rd after Vinny Scarsella's score, but the empty netter from Ross Ring-Jarvi sealed Utah's fate.
The Aces are back on the ice Friday, December 27th hosting the Ontario Reign.
