Alaska Wins Shootout Over Utah
Olivier Roy stopped 26 shots in regulation and overtime, and denied all four Utah Grizzlies in a tie-breaking round as the Aces snapped a three game losing streak, 1-0 in a shootout on Friday night.
The game was scoreless through 65 minutes with each team putting 26 shots on net.
Evan Trupp and Brendan Connolly each buried goals in the shootout to lift the Aces, who improve to 12-6-0 overall, and 1-3-0 on their season-long eight game road trip.
Alaska and Utah finish their three-game series on Saturday.
Prior to the game, the Aces signed another goaltender, former Minnesota Golden Gopher Alex Kangas. Alaska also received forward David Eddy from the AHL's Abbotsford Heat.
