Brendan Connolly was acquired by the Aces in the off-season because of his scoring touch, and he delivered on Friday night. Connolly, who averaged more than a point per game over the last three seasons with Greenville, scored twice and assisted on Andy Taranto's game-winning goal as the Aces downed the Las Vegas Wranglers, 3-2 on Friday night.
Alaska improves to 2-1-0 on the young season while Las Vegas drops to 2-1-0.
Taranto's heroics came with 4:46 remaining in regulation, and just 2:14 after the Wranglers tied the game on a power play goal.
Joni Ortio saved 15 shots for the Aces, who outshot the Wranglers 45-17. Also assisting on goals for Alaska were James Martin, Tim Coffman, and Corey Syvret.
