North Carolina State junior running back Shadrach Thornton had his indefinite suspension lifted Wednesday.

Coach Dave Doeren had suspended Thornton in December after he was cited for misdemeanor simple possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The charges were later dismissed.

Thornton continued to practice with the team during the spring and the start of preseason camp.

In 2013, Thornton underwent counseling as part of a deal to defer prosecution for a misdemeanor assault charge on a female. Thorton has since met the court stipulations and the charge could be dismissed Aug. 20. He was suspended from last season's opener as a result of that charge.

Once Thornton returned last year, he rushed for 100 yards twice, with a season-high 173 yards and two touchdowns against BCS national champion Florida State.
