Saturday nights 3-1 victory over Minnesota State is just the latest example of UAA playing high level hockey. The weekend sweep moves the green and gold into sole possession of 5th in the WCHA.
Matt Bailey put UAA on the board in the first with a goal at the 10:08 mark to make it a 1-0 game, Brett Cameron assisted. Ben Matthews also scored in the opening period at 16:37 with assists from Hayden Trupp and Matt Bailey UAA carried a 2-0 lead into the second period. Matthews scored again in the third, the forward's second goal came just 1:34 into the final frame to give UAA a 3-1 advantage that doubled as the final score.
Goaltender Chris Kamal earned his second straight win stopping 35 of the 36 shots he faced in net. Fairbanks native Stephon Williams struggled in net for the Mavericks giving up 3 goals on just 15 on target efforts.
The Seawolves are back in action against Alabama Huntsville, on the road next weekend.
