ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Roger Spackman, who led the East High T-Birds football program to five straight playoff appearances, including the large schools state championship in 2003, has been hired as the new head coach at Chugiak High School.

Spackman replaces Duncan Shackelford, who announced prior to the 2013 season that his 10th year coaching the Mustangs would be his last.  Chugiak finished 5 and 4 this past season, highlighted by wins over West and Service.

Spackman is currently a physical education teacher at Chugiak.  He coached the Mustangs C team in 2012 and the junior varsity this past season.
