ECHL Most Valuable Player runner-up Peter Sivak scored twice, including the game winning goal with 24 seconds left in the second period to lift the Aces to a series clinching 3-2 win over the Las Vegas Wranglers Friday night at the Orleans Arena.
Alaska completes the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs in a four game series sweep and will face the winner of the Idaho-Colorado series in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Steelheads lead that series, three games to two.
Zach McKelvie also scored for Alaska, while Olivier Roy stopped 21 shots to collect his second win of the series in net. The Aces outshot the Wranglers, 38-23.
The Aces advance out of the first round of the playoffs for the 10th time in their 11 ECHL seasons, and with the sweep, have now won six straight games in which they have had the opportunity to clinch a series, a streak that dates back to 2011.
