Teancum Stafford netted a carer-high 29 points as the UAA men's basketball team took down fifth-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato, 83-72 on Saturday at the Division II Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, California. UAA improves to 2-0 on the young season.
Playing on Saturday morning, about 15 hours after defeating Lindenwood in Friday's season opener, the Seawolves also got a big game from Travis Thompson, who drilled 18 points.
Stafford, however, was the primary star, hitting 10 of his first 11 shots from the field while pulling down six rebounds in the game.
It was UAA's first win over a top five Division II opponent since February of 2006 against Seattle Pacific.
The Seawolves wrap up the tournament Sunday against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
