The UAA hockey team began a critical portion of its season with a tough road loss, falling 5-3 at Lake Superior State on Friday. The Seawolves, who began the week alone in fourth place in the WCHA, slip to 9-9-3 in league play, into fifth. Five of UAA's remaining seven games are on the road.
Andrew Pettitt and Brad Duwe each scored their second goals of the season for UAA, but Lake State rallied with three goals in the final 3:56 of the second period to take control. Most damaging was Dan Radke's marker with three tenths of a seconds left before intermission. The Lakers scored twice on the power play.
UAA's Austin Sevalrud buried his first goal of the season in the third period, but by then it was too little too late. Chris Kamal took the loss in net but made 27 saves.
