The UAA Seawolf hockey team ended their season Friday night with a 5-4 overtime loss to #4 Ferris State. The meeting was a single elimination WCHA semifinal game.
UAA went down 2-0 in the first period of play, but Brett Cameron was able to cut the Bulldog lead in half before first intermission.
Cameron's goal sparked 4 unanswered goals for the Seawolves. At 7:16 into the second period, Austin Coldwell netted the equalizer for Alaska Anchorage off the pass from Jordan Kwas. Less than 2 minutes later, Zack Rassell burried the go-ahead goal, giving UAA a 3-2 lead. Hudson Friesen would strike at 11:22, for a 4-2 Alaska Anchorage lead. Ferris State equalized in the frame, giving the teams a 4-4 tie heading into the 3rd period.
After a scoreless 3rd, the meeting headed to overtime. At 2:38 into the extra frame, Gerald Mayhew scored the game winner to round out the 5-4 final.
