Travis Thompson scored 31 points and Kyle Fossman drilled seven three-pointers for 21 points as the UAA men's basketball team picked up a crucial road victory on Thursday, downing Central Washington 96-89. UAA improves to 7-7 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, 14-11 overall.
The Seawolves rallied from down 10 points at halftime to win, holding Mark McLaughlin, the nation's leading scorer with a 27.5 points per game average, to just 4 for 12 shooting. McLaughlin scored 28 points, but most were from the free throw line.
For the Seawolves, Teancum Stafford poured in 13 points and Brian McGill added 12. UAA committed only three turnovers to tie a school record.
