UAA Takes Over 3rd In WCHA
Trailing 2-1 entering the third period, the UAA hockey team rallied to knock off Bowling Green, 5-2 and take over sole possession of third place in the WCHA in its final regular season home game on Saturday. The victory places UAA at 11-9-4 in conference play and 11-3-2 for the year on home ice.
Scott Allen led the Seawolf comeback with two goals and one assist, including the feed to Matt Bailey for the go-ahead goal at 5:53 of the third. Zack Rassell and Jordan Kwas also struck for the Seawolves in the final frame.
The win could prove crucial in order for UAA to accomplish its goal of hosting a first round playoff series. The Seawolves are alone in third place, two points ahead of Bowling Green, Michigan Tech, and UAF, all tied for fourth. The top four teams earn home ice advantage in the postseason.
