UAF Downs UAA On Kelly's Bucket

UAF"s Andrew Kelly hit a lay-up as time expired, lifting UAF over UAA 70-68 in the final regular season game for both schools on Thursday.  The Nanooks snap a 16-game losing streak to the Seawolves, dating back to January of 2006.

The result puts UAF in third place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference at 12 and 6, while UAA finishes league play 10 and 8.  Both teams are assured spots in next week's conference tournament.

The UAA women took a big step towards earning a first round bye in the GNAC tournament, defeating Seattle Pacific, 76-65.  Kylie Burns connected on five three pointers, totaling 19 points.  Christina Davis added 13 points in a reserve role on 4 for 4 shooting.  Both teams were regionally ranked entering the game. 

The Seawolves move into a tie for second in league play at 12 and 5 with a game to play.  The top two teams earn first round byes in the GNAC tournament.
